Fat Robot Radio Rides Again…for about 5 minutes

It’s been a while since the original four members of Fat Robot Radio got together to talk, laugh and sing. All it took was one call from Danny Foldberg, a State Fair Opening in Idaho and fifty dollars worth of pancake makeup. Now for the first time in 18 months hear the voices that have been silent, missing from the internet like a metal shaving in your taint. Return with me will you? No? Well fuck you then cause it’s happening anyway. Return to Fat Robot Radio Land as Brad, Ben, Tony MF and DGM ask the one burning question on everyone’s mind, who’s a bigger asshole than Phil Collins? Fat Robot Radio Land, exclusively on SLTM (the Podcast). Broadcaster Interview at Firehouse Pizza and Pub Normal, IL 10/19/2013

I sat down with Jesse, Anthony and Tom from Broadcaster before their set at Firehouse Pizza and Pub in Normal Illinois on 10/19/2013 and talked to them about their new album, A MILLION HOURS and their tour. If you have never heard of the band go to their bandcamp page listed below or to Jump Start Records and buy a copy of the new LP. If you have never been to Firehouse Pizza and Pub in Normal, then you need to check it out sometime. It’s a good place to see some good bands for a cheap price. Waxeater Interview at Mike N Molly’s 10/18/2013

Waxeater Interview at Mike N Molly’s 10/18/2013 I recently sat down with the guys in Waxeater, Jeremy, Rob and Zac to talk about their New record Baltimore Record out now on Latest Flame. The guys sat and talked to me after the gig. Due to some small technical glitches, mostly the guy sitting with his bored girlfriend playing over used DJ music inside the bar and my low batteries, this interview doesn’t sound so great or last very long. You would think that a guy who has interviewed people about music for over 24 years would: A. sit closer to the mike and B. make sure he had good batteries or backup batteries. We can all be rusty, I guess. Still the guys were a good conversation, listening to my stupid story about the Casino in Louisville and chatting even though they were road weary and worn out from a quick powerful set. Many thanks to Waxeater for sitting down and talking, and to Latest Flame Records setting it up and pointing me in the bands direction. I’ve got a new band that I like to follow. Aspiga – Among Giants Split 7 inch Music Review

Aspiga – Among Giants Split 7 inch Music Review Aspiga/Among Giants Split 7 Inch Two Songs each Music Review by Brad Bugos brad@fatrobotradio.com or twitter.com/frankell45 Both Second songs are my favorites out of the four. Like “Old Hobbies” from Aspiga and “I care about everyone I meet” by Among Giants with the Among Giants my favorite cut. The first song by AG has some nice swing too it, kind of reminds me of Restorations, whom are wonderful. Like the horn parts or horn replica parts in “Old Hobbies” and the very catchy “Ba-aaa-aaby” hook. This is exactly what bands should do in today’s crowded music market. Join up with another good band, and release a split 7 inch single showcasing their talents. Then offer that 7 inch for 5 dollars and you got a winning idea. I’ve heard Among Giants before, enjoyed their music and played a song on the podcast, so I know I would already like these gents. I have heard of Aspiga, but had not a chance to give them a listen. When there are only two songs, you can review the whole release, song by song, and you get a nice representation of each band. Sometimes that can work against a band, like when someone is enjoying their music and wants more, but this is like a sampler or taster plate. You slap it on your taste buds, think about it, do it again several times and if you like it, then you order the full meal. In this case you follow the links below and buy more Aspiga and Among Giants releases. At least go to their bandcamp pages or listen to SLTM (the Podcast) to hear for yourselves. So Song #1 “Direction” by Aspiga. A nice pop punkish tune, about the two minute mark they kind of let the music drive the tune, giving it a bit of a nice ending push. Enjoyable. Song #2 “Old Hobbies” by Aspiga. This is my favorite song of the two from this band, and a very close second to my favorite song on the split. Seems to be a sad kiss off to a relationship coming to an end. Like the end part with the guitar and the Howl, sounds to me like the person in the song has finally had enough. It’s got a nice hook there in the middle, and it’s good solid subject matter for a punk song. Good Stuff here. Song #3 “In The Jungle” By Among Giants. On this song...

Put some Padding on Your Pudding & Dance, Dance, Dance!

I used to know this sorry son of a bitch, he would cry and whine about his dried out puddin’. Then he found Puddin’ Moist by Selvcorp. It not only keeps you moist and ready for action, but it can also boost your self esteem. They are a fine Sponsor for SLTM (the Podcast), and we could not recommend their product more. So don’t let your puddin’ get dried out and flaky, keep it moist and happy with Puddin’ Moist by Selvcorp. (*disclaimer. May cause violent diarrhea. Rabbits – Bites Rites Album Review

Rabbits – Bites Rites Album Review Album Review Rabbits – Bites Rites- Good To Die Records – Bandcamp Site What a feeling this album prevokes in me. Well, it’s a good feeling to start out with. Let me examine this release, and try to convey to you why it makes me happy. It might be the scuzzy feeling in my heart, the dirty grease in my veins, all the late night smokes and beers with dirty women, that this music brings to the surface when I hear it. Or it could be the warm, tired, road weary feeling I get in my bones when I listen to this. It’s like we’ve been playing rock and roll on the road, harassing gas station attendants, we’ve got road rash and we’re burnt out, but goddam it are we having a fucking good time. It’s not only that, and the bass and sludge of it, but it’s the damn good song titles too. These sons of bitches sound like they are having a good damn time, despite the hangovers, dirty clothes and puke mated road hair. Jesus, to be 25 again and on the road with a band that’s this close to either running the van into a wall, or playing scuzzy rock n roll for those few smart enough to see a band on the edge of rock and roll and puking their guts out. Either way, it’s going to be a hell of a show. There are times when I’m doing whatever the hell I think this is that I do, and I feel like I’m ready to throw in the towel. It can be a bit tedious and harsh. Then there are times when I get something like this album from Rabbits (no, they did not save my soul from total damnation or pull me from the edge of quitting by themselves), and I realize that I really enjoy doing what I do, and I hope that I can keep doing it until I kick off for real. Now, do yourself a favor, head on over to the Good To Die Records Bandcamp Page (handy link right there) and listen to this LP from Rabbits. Actually, just listen to the Fifth Track, Meth Valley 99 and let that soak in, the full compliment of sound from this band and then tell me that at the very least (and smack yourself if you can’t agree to this small point) this band is very sonically and musically...
