I fell down a flight of stairs back in third grade. I was trying to impress Melissa Kincaid, hoping that my fake “Fall” would make her laugh. It was the only way I knew how to get someone to notice me. I had done it a few times before with mixed results. But, I was sure this time it would work out and I would at the least get a laugh, however I was hoping for a quick smooch on the cheek. No such luck, as I hit the third stair and prepared my tuck and roll, my pencil fell out of my pocket and not thinking, I reached to grab it and couldn’t get my arm down in time to break my fall. It was horrible. Oh, I got the laugh, and a busted lip and some blood on my shirt. It also taught me a lesson. Girls don’t enjoy some jackass doing physical comedy trying to impress them. Sadly that lesson didn’t sink in until I was thirty.
