Thoughts of Ionesco – SCAR CYMBALS EP – First Review

Thoughts of Ionesco– Scar Cymbals- EP- First new music from long defunct Detroit band in nearly two decades- thoughtsofionesco.com – facebook.com/thoughtsofionesco – on the song “Scar Cymbals” it cuts out a few times. Once it returns with a creep stalker vocal and another time it cuts out and returns it sounds like we have dropped in on band rehearsal. It sounds like the tape that the music was recorded on was some old tape that dozens of bands have used and so there is bleed through. The band did it to save money but its added another dimension to their sound. I’m going to have to listen to the last song on another device to see if this is all there or if I’m getting ghost audio from something else. Here’s what this band should do, tour the Midwest as opening opening band on a three band tour. Then just come out and play “Scar Cymbals” cause it’s got everything you would want. It shows the bands versatility and it’s twelve minutes. Would be really cool to see them do twelve hot minutes then just leave the stage. People might be baffled but I’m sure they would also be...

Child Bite – Negative Noise- First Review

Child Bite– NEGATIVE NOISE– “Apex of Anxiety” – (first review)- childbite.com – facebook.com/childbite – on “Euphoria Saturation” ‘ too much of a good thing is too much’ then he yells over and over “too much” to emphasize his point. How true. Lead singer reminds me of David Yow. Child Bite should be on the Jesus Lizard reunion shows. Singer, in my mind, comes out on stage dressed in tackey suit, like a used car salesman from the 70’s, think Kurt Russel in Used Cars. He has a mask on. He’s part front man, game show host and salesman. “its too late, too late to change”, this singer and band has a lot of good wisdom to share. Of course its too late to change, and not because you can’t but because you won’t. Set in your ways as my grandmother would politely tell you. We just don’t want to change, it’s a pain in the house. Besides what’s the point anyway? No one is going to remember us in fifty years. I like the chimming guitar lick in “Vermin Mentality”. “Beyond the Dirty” shows of the bands diversity. I like where this bands head is at. Good slow greasy grooves, couldn’t turn it off after this...
